Project Engineer Thermodynamics and Exhaust Aftertreatment

The Task
Stricter legal framework, growing environmental awareness among the public, rising energy prices and the globalisation markets require an ever increasing focus on the development of modern engines. In order to keep pace with this rapid development, our client is expanding its thermodynamics and exhaust aftertreatment for commercial, industrial and diesel engines team and is looking out for a suitably qualified Project Engineer. Since the company strengthens several of its sites, the job location could be in South- or West-Germany. 
The aim of the position to be filled would be the development control system functions and the calibration of commercial, industrial and heavy-duty diesel engines. Depending on the experience and knowledge of the potential candidate, the main task would lie in the areas of exhaust emissions, fuel consumption, driveability or diagnostic functions. You will develop, calibrate and validate the engine control in the vechicle and on test station. You will also undertake test drives in different climate zones. 
You will plan and monitor engine and vehicle tests at advanced testing facilities and analyze the received data, generate practical solutions out of it and implement them. You will work together with other project engineers in a team. Additionally, you will be an important customer interface and the primary contact for all issues within the projects handled. 
The Requirements
For this interesting job, we are seeking contact with a graduated engineer (technical university, technical college, or advanced technical college) with a degree in the relevant field (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics engineering) etc. The ideal person has already gathered several years of professional experience in the calibration of diesel engines and exhaust aftertreatment.                                                                                          
You are well versed with tools like Inca, ATI, Simulink, Matlab etc. as well as Electronic Engine Management (EMS). Ideally, you are also familiar with Design of experiments (DoE). 
You possess good knowledge of the thermodynamics of diesel and heavy-duty engines and the consumption and emissions regulations worldwide. Because of the global activity field of the company, good English language skills and willingness to travel is indispensable. Equally important in this connection is a good impression and confident conduct when dealing with customers as well as the ability to describe complex situations briefly and precisely. 
Furthermore, it is expected that the candidate will exhibit a maximum level of customer orientation. You should be able to work independently and creatively and be willing to transfer your skills, knowledge, and expertise to your teams without reservations. In addition, the variety of the different projects requires a high measure of flexibility. Moreover you should be willing to work at the different locations of the company.
